High-precision tig welding for tube-to-tube joints
The Polysoude MW series is engineered to deliver high-purity, oxidation-free orbital TIG welds without filler wire. Designed for industries where weld integrity is paramount, the MW heads offer exceptional precision and repeatability, even when used in restricted or complex environments. With decades of accumulated expertise built into each unit, the series provides a reliable, high-performance solution for tube-to-tube welding across a wide variety of applications.
The MW welding heads produce welds that are completely free from oxidation thanks to their sealed purge chamber, ensuring the highest weld quality for hygienic and high-purity systems. Their ergonomics have been carefully optimized so operators can work comfortably and efficiently, resulting in faster setup and less fatigue.
These heads support continuous operation through a robust high-duty-cycle design, which incorporates heat-resistant components and advanced cooling. They fully comply with major international standards, including EHEDG, ASME, and FDA requirements, making them suitable for demanding regulated sectors.
Each MW welding head is equipped with a closed-loop regulation system that maintains a precise and consistent welding speed, whether operating in constant or pulsed mode. Operators can manage the welding process directly through the integrated remote control, simplifying their workflow and eliminating unnecessary movement around the workstation. The return-to-home mechanism automatically guides the electrode gear back to its loading position once a weld is completed, enhancing efficiency. Position-based program control is supported by a built-in encoder, ensuring accurate and repeatable weld cycles.
The welding heads are specifically engineered for heavy-duty use, incorporating high-temperature materials and a closed-loop water-cooling system for dependable, long-duration performance. They also utilize interchangeable titanium Tube Clamp Inserts (TCI’s™), which conform to standardized tube sizes and maintain the high purity required in sensitive installations. For added protection, the adjustable shielding disc helps maintain proper inert gas coverage throughout the weld.
The MW series includes six models—MW 34 1T, MW 34 2T, MW 40-3 2T, MW 65-3 2T, MW 115-3 2T, and MW 170 2T—each designed to accommodate specific tube diameters ranging from 1/4″ to 6.625″ (6mm-170mm). Every unit features a durable 10.83ft (3.3m) integrated cable and is constructed with lightweight yet highly robust materials, keeping overall weight between 13 and 40 pounds depending on model. This range provides a complete solution for both small-scale hygienic tubing and large-diameter industrial pipe welding.
The MW series is compatible with all Polysoude™ power sources, offering seamless integration into existing orbital welding systems. With over 50 years of welding innovation behind them, these heads also feature a narrow, streamlined profile for easy use in confined spaces, along with a reversible clamping hook that accommodates a wider range of tube diameters and tolerances.
