The family of Model 9 series weld heads can weld tube or thin wall pipe through the range of 0.093” (2.3mm) to 7.5” (190.5mm) O.D. The 9AF series can also weld ABW/ATW fittings and other components with short stick-out. An optional tungsten extender (mushroom) may accommodate parts too short to be welded in a standard Model 9 series head.

Model 9 heads incorporate a two-sided clamping mechanism. An independent set of clamps on each side of the weld head holds the tubes or fittings in line, butted together and ready to be welded. For most welding applications these clamps eliminate the need for pre-tacking. The clamps can be quickly and easily replaced with a different size, so each weld head can weld a wide range of tube or pipe sizes. Clamps are available in all standard inch and metric tube and pipe sizes. Customized or special configuration clamps are also available.

All Model 9 weld heads (except the 9-250 and the 9-500) have water cooling capability built-in. When used with our water cooling equipped power supplies, the internal welding head components as well as the weld head cables are cooled, allowing high duty-cycle welding of wall thicknesses up to approximately 0.160” (4mm).
